On-device where it matters
Receipt OCR, Explain It Once, and statement analysis run locally. Raw receipt and statement files are not kept as product analytics.

Biometrics stay with the OS
Face ID, Touch ID, and Android biometrics return only an allow-or-deny result. FairSplit never receives a biometric template.

Only the right circle sees the chat
Messages use membership controls, TLS in transit, and managed encryption at rest. We do not claim end-to-end encryption until it is truly implemented.

Analytics without your financial story
Names, amounts, notes, contacts, payment handles, and attachment paths are excluded from product analytics.

What makes FairSplit different from other bill-splitting apps?
FairSplit is built for people who want a simpler shared expense app with unlimited free core splitting, standalone Solo Mode, itemized receipt assignment, guided bill organization, shared shopping, group gifts, chat, and smart settlements.
Can I split a bill by individual items?
Yes. Assign each item to one or more people and split it evenly, by percentage, or by exact amount. Discounts, tax, and fees stay reconciled with the receipt total.
Do other people need to download FairSplit?
No. In Solo Mode, one person can scan or create the bill, calculate every share, and send a detailed summary. Everyone else can review what they owe without installing the app.
What if one person paid for the whole bill?
Choose who paid and FairSplit will show exactly who owes whom, including the most direct way to settle the group.
What stays free?
Unlimited Circles and expenses, Solo Mode, full itemized receipt review, Explain It Once, flexible splits, multi-currency bills, offline autosave, friends, chat, photos, gifts, shopping, payment requests, settlements, insights, and detailed PDF or CSV exports.
What does Premium unlock?
Premium currently adds statement intelligence and recurring-expense automation. Monthly, annual, and Lifetime plans unlock the same features; only the billing option changes.
Do invite links expose my group?
No. Public invitation URLs contain a short-lived random token, not a circle name, member name, balance, or payment detail.
Is circle chat end-to-end encrypted?
Not yet. Chat is protected by circle membership rules, TLS in transit, and managed encryption at rest. FairSplit will not use “end-to-end encrypted” language until client-side group keys are implemented and independently reviewed.
Does FairSplit process or hold my money?
No. FairSplit calculates balances and creates payment requests, then hands the transfer to PayPal.Me, Venmo, or Cash App. Your card, bank details, funds, and payment-provider login never pass through FairSplit.
Where can I get FairSplit?
FairSplit 1.4.4 is available for iPhone on the App Store and requires iOS 15.5 or later.
